Mundaka Upanishad

The Mundaka Upanishad gives us the teachings of Vedanta, in a systematic manner. In the Vedantic tradition, the study of the Upanishads starts with Munkada Upanishad. It is embedded in Atharvana Veda. Like other Upanishads, the Mundaka Upanishad is also in the form of a dialogue between a Guru and Sishya. Here the Sishya is Saunaka asking questions to Guru Angiras. He asks an interesting question – “What is that one thing, by knowing of which, everything is known?"

முண்டக உபநிஷத்

வேதாந்த விஷயங்களை முறையாக விளக்குவது இந்த உபநிஷத். பொதுவாக வேதாந்திகள் முதலில் படிக்கும் உபநிஷத்தும் இதுவே. இந்த உபநிஷத்தும் குரு சிஷ்ய ஸம்வாத நடையில் அமைந்துள்ளது. சிஷ்யரான சௌனகர் குரு அங்கிரஸிடம் ‘எந்த ஒன்றை அறிவதனால் அனைத்தும் அறிந்தவராவோம்’ என்ற கேள்விக்கு பதிலாக அமைந்ததே இந்த உபநிஷத்.
